NOMA?

As anyone who read my last post will know, the idea of the IQ fascinates me. While researching Obama's IQ I came across the following quote, which is obviously disgusting.

"The average IQ of Obama's African relatives in Kenya is 71. There's NO reason to believe his IQ is any higher, and MANY reasons to believe it's MUCH, MUCH lower.
For one, blacks claim that slavery was so bad for blacks that WE, the putative descendants of Whites who ALLEGEDLY held black slaves but not WHITE slaves [who constituted the majority of slaves], more than 2 centuries ago, owe then TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS for the damage done to them. If so, they could NOT be MORE intelligent than those we did NOT take into slavery--could they?
Second, while it's widely held that the IQ of American blacks has risen because of an influx from the Caucasoid gene pool, their behavior, attitude, poor workplace performanc, and low test scores suggest otherwise."

In case you didn't read my last post, in America an IQ of 71 is borderline retarded. So why is this relevant to the subject matter of this site? Because, I found that quote on christianparty.net. You can find the full comment here. Granted one could say this is merely the rantings of one crazy person, but the truth is that we all know that there are probably millions of people in America who believe this. There is an idea out there posited by Stephen Jay Gould that religion and science are nonoverlapping magisteria, i.e. they don't conflict with each other. My question is, if that's true, why is it that so many people (like the gentleman quoted above) who believe in God show such a flagrant disregard for the scientific method? And why does that flagrant disregard interconnected with hate-filled beliefs so regularly?

P.S. I can't believe there are people who use the phrase "caucasoid gene pool." He sounds like a racist Bill Nye.
