Although it might not appear to be directly under the purview of this blog, considering Obama is a liberal democrat (despite his religious rhetoric) his victory would most likely be a victory for the non-religious. That being said I thought I'd point out a fact that I feel hasn't garnered a lot of press - that is the fact that Obama has won or tied 40 out of the last 40 national presidential polls, and he only tied McCain once. For a point of reference, the largest run Bush had against Kerry was 23 polls in a row, and the longest run Kerry had (I believe many saw him as the stronger candidate before the swift-boat veteran's adds came out) was 13 polls in a row. I think that at the very least this is an indicator that Obama is a very strong candidate at this point. It's very hard to imagine how someone might argue that winning that many polls in a row isn't correlated with the strength of the candidate. It would be like saying that the fact that a baseball team won a ton of games in a row isn't indicative of how good they are.
