Religion... Condemns?

Well we have something to thank religion for today: the deathbed confession. James Brewer was an active member of his church, his wife even started a prayer group. They were good, god-fearing people who wouldn't hurt a soul. They were so god-fearing, in fact, that when Mr. Brewer had a stroke and thought he was dying, he confessed to killing a man in Tennesse 32 years ago because he believed the man was trying to seduce his wife. Bonnie and Clyde then jumped bail, fled the state and assumed new identities.

So I guess the real news is that through a completely unforeseeable chain of events, religion actually failed to keep a man's morals in check. Who'da thunk? Or maybe he was just trying to enforce the commandment, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife." That one's more important than the one about killing right?

The man, of course, did not die and now may be facing the death penalty, singular proof that that god does exist, and he's a comedian.
